Jul. 1st, 2013 10:32 amI got back from Pendleton yesterday afternoon. It was a good trip, to say the least, although there were a few non-good moments.
It mostly consisted of looking at the various places of my youth and taking Max out to restaurants. I bought him things like beer and cigarettes; a little expensive, but it made him happy and he is broke in any case.
I went to the farm where I grew up and I was saddened to see nearly all of the land butchered by housing development. The prettiest field was almost completely taken up by ugly contemporary houses with their fat, ugly residents. I felt like crying as I was trying to sleep that night, after seeing something so beautiful get destroyed. That is a part of my youth forever gone.
The next day we went to the largest park in town, which is almost right next to the farm. It was still beautiful, although it had disc golf things on it now. But my brother loves playing that game, so it was a welcome addition. I loved walking through it. Later in the night I drank some beer and smoked some dope; that was only the second time I had ever done it. I definitely got stoned but I didn't care for it; I honestly like beer and DXM a lot better. I did slightly freak out when I got a synergy from the dope and beer but I quickly calmed down. When I told my brother that I didn't care for it after he said he was worried that I'd try to find a dealer in Moscow, he said that he didn't understand why some people don't care for it. I don't know; I just don't I guess.
I gave him the Dreamcast, but he gave it back to me when he found out that we didn't have Power Stone. Oh well; at least I can play it now.
I met someone from my high school class and we talked for a while; that was great. I found out a lot of things about my other classmates. Apparently one of my old friends was in town and I tried to call, but they didn't call back. Oh well.
The driving was strange; it was interesting to see the different personalities of drivers. I was scared in the beginning but I adjusted to it pretty well I think.
Well, that is it, pretty much. A lot changed about my old hometown, and I really don't have another reason to visit it again, at least not for a while.
