Aug. 18th, 2013 01:07 pmI had coffee with my professor friend yesterday, and we actually read the first part of Genesis together. Surprisingly, I liked that. He asked me what my stance on Christianity was at this point, and I told him that I was starting to believe that the supernatural abilities and qualities of Jesus were probably real. What helped me with that was when I read a book about a week or so ago called "They Knew The Unknown", which talks about the supernatural phenomena of writers, philosophers, mediums and the like. From that book I realized that such things are real to a certain extent and that Jesus was like a 19th century medium on crack. So I have more faith now than I used to.
I went to church today and I told the pastor that I wrote philosophy, and he seemed impressed. He said that most people in philosophy today don't do philosophy anymore; they just regurgitate the works of others. I agreed with him. I think that it is important to take action and try to philosophize on your own, because even if you end up being wrong, you're still ahead of most others in the field for having actually tried.
Probably not going to do much else today; Sundays are usually fairly quiet days.
